Rome, Italy-Day 3

Vatican Museums

Today is not only my final day in Rome, but my final day in my trip throughout Europe. Today I am visiting the Vatican Museums. I have heard good things about the museums from family members that have visited. I arrived in the vatican city, and since it is so small, quickly found the museums. I was excited to see the museums because they are considered some of the greatest museums in the world. They display works from the collection built up by the Roman Catholic Church throughout the centuries. They even contain some of the most renowned classical sculptures and most important masterpieces of Renaissance art in the world. The Vatican Museums trace their origin to one marble sculpture, purchased 500 years ago. What I really like was the spiraling staircase in the center of one of the museums. As i walked through the museums i learned a lot about Roman Catholic history. I enjoyed the museums a lot. All in all I had a great trip. I traveled a lot, visited many interesting places and had a great learning experience.

Rome, Italy-Day 2

Trevi Fountain

Today is my 2nd day in rome and I'm very excited. Today I plan to visit the Trevi Fountain. It is a beautiful fountain thats about 26 meters high and 20 meters wide. It is the largest Baroque fountain in the city and one of the most famous fountains in the world. That is why I was so interested in seeing it. The fountain is where three roads meet. It marks the terminal point of the one of the ancient aqueducts that supplied water to ancient Rome. It was supposedly "pure" water found by a virgin in ancient roman times. It served Rome for more than four hundred years. The statue consist of many statues, some of women, some of men on horses, and in the middle is the "God of all water".

Rome, Italy-Day 1

Pantheon

I have just arrived in Rome, Italy. It is north, east, and west of three seas. This is the place I was looking forward to seeing. I am very interested in learning about this city. The 1st place I am visiting is the Pantheon. It is basically a building commissioned as a temple to all the gods of Ancient Rome. There are statues of so many gods placed around this building. The building is circular with huge granite columns. It has a concrete dome, with an opening in the middle to view the sky. The Pantheon's dome is the world's largest unreinforced concrete dome. It is one of the best preserved of all Roman buildings. It has been in use throughout it's history, and since the 7th century, the Pantheon has been used as a Roman Catholic church dedicated to "St. Mary and the Martyrs".

Berlin, Germany-Day 3

Deutsches Historisches Museum

It is my 3rd and final day in Berlin, Germany. Today I will visit the Deutsches Historisches Museum. It is a museum of German history. It was founded in 1987 by the chancellor of Germany, and the mayor of Berlin, on the 750th anniversary of the founding of Berlin. It is located in the Zeughaus which was founded in 1695 and is the oldest structure in central Berlin. It is a big, an old looking building. It had many statues lined along the roof of the building, I'm not exactly sure what the statues were of though. The part I really like was a staircase with glass windows. It really added character to the museum. Honestly, I loved it. It had a real flow to it from pre-Roman to post Reunification. Very descriptive in English as well.

Berlin, Germany-Day 2

Brandenburg Gate

It is now my second day in Berlin and I'm am looking forward to visiting the Brandenburg Gate. I guess it is a former city gate and one of the main symbols of Berlin and Germany. It is located west of the city's center. I actually waited until the sun started going down because I hear the gate looks much prettier near night time. I arrived at the Brandenburg Gate just on time. The view was amazing, it was lit up so beautifully. The Gate has 12 Doric columns, six on each side, forming five passageways. Citizens used to be allowed to use the outer two passageways. On top of the gate is the Quadriga, a chariot drawn by four horses driven by Victoria, the Roman goddess of victory. 2images.jpeg9images-1.jpeg
